Chances are you've never been anywhere like this. The former Soviet Republic of Georgia, known as Sakartvelo in the native tongue, is unique in the world. Nestled between the Caucasus mountain range and Black Sea, Georgia has one of the oldest Christian traditions in the world.

But, it's the fact that the territory is currently sitting on two simmering conflicts in the separatist areas of Abkhazia and south Ossetia that make Georgia truly an adventurer's playground. These pictures give witness.
