"...this is a one time offer, the phones are lighting up, the phones are lighting up!! "
FROM THE ARCHIVES (HUMBER COLLEGE 2005)
The Challenge:
Produce a 5 min. long "creative demo" selling yourself to a radio station
The Solution:
You're watching TV one night, flipping around, and you come across an infomercial for the John Michael Howard Radio Rockstar Cassette CD DVD Seminar Series
The Result:
A lot of fun listening to it with the whole class, and dreams of a bright future in radio!
"This is a promo for The First Word, which is the last word on being the best show in town "
#1 - For the diehards, this promo aired at the beginning of our show every week after the group introduction. (FYI, we got cancelled in late 2006, but had a great run. Shout out to everyone on the team!)
#2 - Tracy and I produced a piece centered around Haitian voodoo, and Tracy being consumed by the devil. It wasn't a big hit, and we had to cut it short. Speculation, but it could have been responsible for the axe coming down:) This was how we started the segment, before cutting to the voodoo ceremony. (I will try and hunt down the audio from that!)
2 September 2006 Higher Learning presents....Lowspace Radio #3
"would you go along with someone like me?"

19 August 2006 Higher Learning presents....Lowspace Radio #2
My record crate is full of French house joints, including one of my faves - Cassius' La Mouche. There's a DJ Falcon mix on there that is an insane roof raiser. Their new record "15 again" is dropping soon, so we hit up their Myspace page to take a listen. It sounds different, that's for sure, but so does each record that they put out. No doubt a Cassius record though, their signature sound comes through everything they release.
Check the 2nd link to see some video's of the making of the album, and of their first single, "Toop Toop."
The first link, Lowspace Radio - as featured on Higher Learning/ The First Word/ and CIUT 89.5 FM.

"I am so alive...gotta get that money man and ain't a thing funny man."
The Mother's Day edition of Higher Learning blasted through the airwaves with a look at some of the best podcasts in the webmosphere. (ha!) We counted them down through a
Madlib DJ set, unknown facts about Pharrell, and even Police Academy. Hey, it's Higher Learning, email us if you're getting close yet.
"...there's a classroom full of kids in Sudbury, Ontario that are getting that much dumber. "
Two weeks later, and this show had us dancing in the studio for real thanks to a M.I.A. remix that you'll want to rewind. Also, Ricky's laugh, and two Carls - one with a C, one with a K. And we hit number 1 too, with a podcast from a tiny little studio in New York City.
Listen up for the who, what...this is the SCS podcast from Higher Learning, Lowsound, and The First Word.
